Veterinary Toralf B. Metveit is awarded the Stiansen Award 2016 for his lifelong commitment to animal welfare. Dag S. Stiansens Stiftelse hands out the award, consisting of NOK 50 000 and a sculpture signed artist Elena Engelsen.

– Toralf B. Metveit has been a champion of animal interests throughout a long life, both as a veterinary and through a variety of organizational positions. We greatly appreciate Metveit’s work and we want to honour him with the Stiansen Award, says the board of the Dag S. Stiansens Stiftelse.

The Stiansen Award is presented annually to individuals or organizations that have made extraordinary efforts to promote animal rights and welfare. A council at the foundation proposes candidates to the board based on nominations received from animal supporters worldwide, whereas the board makes the final decision.

– Metveit has given a large and valuable contribution to the improvement of animal welfare for different animal groups, by speaking their cause for decades. He is a worthy recipient of the Stiansen Award, says professor and veterinary Frode Lingaas, chairman of the foundation council at Dag S. Stiansens Stiftelse.
